Jester’s Tactical Sport Center is hosting a Gurlz ‘N Gunz Clinic: Introduction to Tactical Paintball and Milsim on November 22, 2015.
We are very excited to be putting on this clinic in November. As a woman in paintball and co-owner of a field, it’s important to me to that the sport of paintball continues to develop and gain legitimacy for what it has to offer as a sport and community. Equally as important, I believe that a proper introduction to the sport, tactics and to Milsim is crucial, and that is one of the reasons that we decided to host this clinic.
You may now be asking why this is geared toward woman. Well, for me I want to grow the sport for women and to be perfectly honest it’s intimidating when you get started. Not many have even held a marker before, so again basics are critical in developing confidence which will translate to feeling comfortable and safe. To just be handed a marker your first time, a bag of paint and told to just go shoot is most definitely in my opinion under representing the sport and community as a whole and is unequivocally a missed opportunity and under representation of the sport, and what is can offer. Also, in our region, The Atlantic Provinces, there are only a handful of women who are avid players, there has been a lot of interest, and this clinic is that opportunity for these women to get some one on one instruction and get a proper introduction to this amazing sport. We chose to focus on Tactical PB and Milsim because that is JTSC’s specialty; In addition, we have the military experience and background to back up our programs legitimately. We also focus on Tactical Paintball and Milsim because of what skills and challenges it has to offer globally, but personally as well.

From observation bringing someone who has never played to an event for the first time is not be the best intro to the world of paintball, let alone Milsim. Thus, the idea of hosting a clinic specifically touching on Shooting, Tactics, and Milsim was hatched. My passion for teaching and sharing in something I love with others is my personal motivation for putting on this clinic. I have been shooting and learning tactics for years now, and the confidence it has giving me is gift I would like to share with others.
The lead instructors will be Jester and Dusty Bottoms. I am not the only women behind this project; the hands on instruction will be left to Cheesy, Jukebox and me, Valkyrie. We are also very lucky to have Bunker Flashbacks as our community partners on this project, and look forward to working with them.

The clinic is designed to focus on the foundations and basics of gear, fire and movement, tactics and milsim, we will then use those lessons in short scenario based games specially designed to allow the participants to actually apply the skills and drills of the day. This will add a component of trust and team work to the overall lessons of the day and include a little friendly competition and the chance to pewpew at each other. Yes, the clinic indicates that it’s an intro clinic, and we do have limited spots, but any player is welcome as we will accommodate each lesson to ensure it builds on the skills some players may already have gained from previous experiences.
