The Maritimes is located east of Maine, sandwiched by the Atlantic Ocean and are made up of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, Paintball has its challenges in the Maritimes; the weather, cost and distance to fields all play their parts in the challenges that paintballers face on the East Coast. Some players travel six to eight hours, by car, to get their fix of the game. The cost of paint can be absolutely crazy. With a cost of $100.00 per case U.S., I will never complain about the cost of paint again. The season for paintball is short for the normal player. Living so far north, paintballers have to deal with the cold and the snow. The cold and damp climate causes issues with paint and waterproofing of your gear. You have to be a dedicated player of the game in the Maritimes, or maybe a bit nutz.

The community in the Maritimes is a small one. With a population count of just over 2 million to draw from, paintballers have their work cut out for them. With all these hurdles, what do you do to grow paintball? One would have to reach the masses and have a platform that would allow people everywhere to hear about the game. A podcast is the answer to what the Maritimes needs to help get the word out in the region.

Four guys in the Maritimes found their way together to promote and expand the knowledge of paintball in their community. Looking for something to do in the off-season a conversation took place. Hooligan, a 10 year veteran of the game, asked his friend, Mike DeSousa, for some advice on what to do during the winter months. Mike suggested a paintball podcast. After thinking about the idea and doing some research on the subject, he made the decision to launch a Podcast and the “Maritime Milsim Podcast” was slung out into he paintball community.

The Maritime Milsim Podcast’s first episode “Tactical vs Tacticool” aired in January 2015 on PodOmatic. With a controversial topic the podcast was born. Hooligan hosting his first podcast with Guardian as his co-host nailed it. Sounding like they had been doing this for some time, the show went off without a hitch. During the second episode, Hooligan introduced Nightmare to the show. The cast is complete, or is it? The threesome all bring something special to the show. They all have something that they do on their own.

Hooligan the host of the show is the player’s player, helping people on the field and leading the battle. He loves the milsim style of play, he can’t get enough. He has even got his longtime girlfriend, Frances, in on the show. Known as Jukebox she does he intros to the show.

Guardian, a BST guy that hooks people up with the gear they need. He says he has about 15 markers at all times. Shooting all of them to make sure they are functional and in good working order, he goes the extra mile to make sure that you are getting a good marker. In doing this he has gained a lot of knowledge about the different markers. He often gives tips on the show how to BST your stuff.

Nightmare a YouTuber with a good base of subscribers has done review videos, game play videos, and more. With is hummer and wit he makes some great videos. His humor and wit makes for an entertaining download.

With all of this, the guys on the podcast have a lot to talk about. Yes, it gets heated at times and the jokes come regularly. It is always fun to have a listen to these fellas push each others buttons as they chat about hot topics in the game. The podcast is well organized and flows well between subjects.

Aspects of the Podcast include guest appearances a bit of insight from outside the cast of the show. Reaper, A-Train and Jester to name a few of the most resent guests. Gear, safety, tactics and promotion, are some of the things they chatted about. Jester invited the boys to an event that he was putting on at his field while on the show. The crew from the podcast ended up making the trip to Jesters Tactical Sports Center. They played in the trench style field that Jester carved into the snow, at his field.

Hooligan invited Jester back to the show, after a great event. He is now the fourth member of the podcast. As a vet and a field owner, he brings a entirely different perspective that the show they did not have before.

With all the show has to offer, you are going to get something out of it including, a few laughs to say the least. It is not often you have four guys that have their own things going on, come together to do something like this. This is what the sport of paintball is all about. I love seeing people working together as a team to accomplish something great.

Have a listen to the Maritime Milsim Podcast and enjoy the show.
