I had the pleasure of sitting down and getting to know the man behind an amazing place. Located on a 45-acre parcel in Rusagonis, New Brunswick, Canada, Jester’s Tactical Sports Center is a paintball and airsoft training ground for all levels.
Nathan, call sign Jester, a player of the game since the mid 90s, has extensive experience. He rocks the field with his T15 and TCR, both great markers for the up close and personal. As a trainer and a Canadian Army Veteran, he knows how to deploy these markers with accuracy and efficiency. Jester enjoys the MilSim and MagFeg games and plays as much as he can.

Paintball and Airsoft are a big part of Nathans’s life, but Amy, Nathans fiance and his two boys come first.
They all have a part in the operation of the field. The boys often found outside with their dad building and maintaining the field and training area. There is a lot to do to maintain Jesters, plenty of grass and weeds to cut, trees to prune and bunkers to build. They spend a lot of time together out on the field. Amy works hard on the promotion of the center. Jester’s is a family center.
Outside the center life, they ride horses, fish, camp and other outside activities. Nathan and his family love to spend time at the barn taking care of the horse and their riding gear. They often have movie and game nights were they all enjoy their time together. Family time is an important part of their lives.

Nathan and Amy got engaged last August. Amy is a fun and energetic partner who is supportive of Nathan and his boys, a cornerstone for them. Funny and witty she also keeps them on their toes. Getting to know the two, I can see the caring and love they share.
Nathan, a long time sports trainer, thought having a sports center that trains individuals in the art of paintball would be a great addition to the paintball community. In January of 2015 he opened the doors to Jesters Tactical Sports Center. There is nothing else like this sports center. There are trails to walk, a pond for fishing or just relaxing. In the winter months, cross-country skiing is offered; shooting is always incorporated at the center. Fitness classes are also on the menu. The idea is to have something for everyone ant any level of fitness.

His paintball classes train the inexperienced and cultivate the skills necessary in paintball. To do this he has developed courses that are fun and interesting. “The more fun they are having and the more relaxed the student is the more they absorb,” Jester tells me. The idea is to give the student the information and build that information which becomes a part of the student. This is done using drills, games and personal instruction by the team at Jesters. As the students learn more and their skill level increases the level of training intensifies. Jester will have his team “step it up a notch”. The game play and instruction gets a bit tougher. Nathan has a knack for being able to see what the students need and is able to guide his team to get then to learn. Even the people with experience learn a few things. The students learn at their own pace, so there is no pressure to perform. The training is all about having fun and learning the sport…

Introduction to MilSim Tactics is where it all starts. Learning the fundamentals of the game are important, basic formations such as, movement, moving and shooting, communication and hand signals. Jester uses the Tippmann 98 marker to teach this class. This is an easy marker for the student to operate and helps in building confidence. It is also a reliable marker so the student does not get frustrated with break down issues.

Intermediate players, using the Tippmann A-5 or X-7 with tac caps, learn fast reloads, movements, line of sight, effective fire, firing positions from the right and the left; These skills that are going to greatly enhance your level of play.

Training, recreation games, walk on games are offered year round. Just because the weather is bad does not slow this team down. Jester and his team are ready to get the job done.

Just before the scenario game, “Hoth on Earth”, the field had received so much snow they were going to cancel. Nathan couldn’t do this. There were people that were traveling a long way to play at this event. “Hoth” was also the first scenario game the field had put on. The crew came together, grabbing shovels and snow blowers they carved into the snow a maze of trenches. Building bunkers out of the white stuff, they had an epic field provided by Mother Nature and some good old fashion ingenuity. The game went on as scheduled, and was a success. The players have not stopped talking about it since. This is the type of dedication Nathan and his crew have. Not much is going to slow him down. It is all about mission accomplishment. Serving 13 years in the Canadian Army, as a light infantry- man he knows a little something about mission accomplishment. The tenacity of this center’s owner is unparalleled.

Jester’s is growing, and with a total of seven fields of play being designed, built and created each field will bring a different challenge, theme and experience…and shhh…But the fields are being designed in such a way that they can become ONE BIG FIELD of play. A full pro shop, air stations, a practice range and plenty of other things to do. Nathan has plans to build an indoor site that will offer even more action. This will be a great addition for his customers. Along with walk on games, recreation play and scenario games. Do not forget the training offered. Jesters Tactical Sports Center is shaping up to be a place I will play at. With the new indoor facility, he will is shaping up to have CQB training and close quarters games for the players to enjoy.
I highly suggest that if you want some serious fun and training. Get up to New Brunswick and visit Jesters Tactical Sports Center.
