Two guys sitting around with not much to do thought paintball would be something cool to try. Little did they know what they were going to get themselves into. NRG1 ran out to the nearest paintball shop and bought a marker and some gear. After doing this he showed up at Brik Top’s house: “let go play some paintball!”, Brik Top now had to meet the challenge from his friend NRG1. Brik Top went out and got his own gear; and it began.

After five years of playing paintball, studying the rules, the fields, and learning the markers the duo thought it would be cool to do something a bit different and give back to the sport. They came up with Command B.R.O.S.

Brik Top, a single man with four kids of his own, loved playing army when he was young. His favorite cartoon as a kid was Gi Joe and his father was a Navy Corpsmen;

all the makings for a paintballer, he just did not know it.

Growing up Brik Top was also interested in outdoor survival and learning what he could about how to make it in the woods. He was also involved in sports as a young man. He played football in high school and college and then went on to play semi pro ball in a league based in D.C. He hoped to keep playing and maybe even go pro. This all changed for him after a home invasion/robbery which left him with seven gunshot wounds to his body. Brik Top was rushed to the hospital and underwent a lengthy surgery to remove the bullets and repair the damage to his body. He stayed at the hospital for three months improving his health and fighting to get back to normal. Even after leaving the hospital he still struggled with some health issues and had to continue to fight to get back to a normal.

With this life changing event he went to work in the security industry and started a family. Family is his number one priority and watching his kids grow up is his life.

While working security at a hotel he met NRG1. They became fast friends. NRG1, like Briktop also had a father that served in the military. His dad was a Master Gunnery Sargent in the Marine Corp.

I can hear the conversation, Navy Vs Marine…

NRG1 loved to draw as a kid and he created comic book characters and even drew his own comic books. He also had a passion for the martial arts, he played Kung-Fu. He and his friends would have battles all the time. Later in life he got into martial arts a bit more seriously and took classes to gain the skills and discipline that he was searching for. Having studied the arts for 12 years and being an instructor at Rothrocks Kung-Fu Tia Chi Studios he still loves martial arts and brings a lot to the table. NRG1 is also a single father of four and has sometimes been dubbed the bachelor dad.

Brik Top and NRG1 spend a lot of time together at work and at home, they also paintball together. If you ever get the chance to meet these two you will see the energy they have. Always in high spirits, having fun, cracking jokes and having witty comebacks for whatever comes their way, they are great people to surround yourself with. They tell me that the game to them is like getting to be the Gi Joe character that you always wanted to be as a kid but for real. “It is like making fantasy a reality.” What other sport can you put on a bunch of gear, fell like a bad ass and shoot people with paint for fun? “You can be whoever you want to be.”

About Four months ago the duo decided to take this to the next level. They came up with “Command Bros”. Playing scenario and woods ball games, the idea is to go out to the game, recruit walk-on players and create small units to complete the objective of the game.

This benefits both the walk-on player as well as the Command Bros. The walk-ons get some on the job training, learning new skills, and tactics in the game which leads to using the skills and how to play the game. It also makes them feel like they are a part of something, not just a player on the field but allowing the player to feel like they are a part of a team. This also gives the new player a chance to meet people and just have a good time. The Command BROS also benefit, they get an army that is eager to get it done. It is a win-win for both. At the end of the game the Command BROS give out the, ”Pee Choosy” award to that one player that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the extra mile.

The Command BROS have a YouTube Channel. NRG1 has taken the bull by the horns to make this a part of their idea. The team uses this to showcase their game videos, also sharing tips, tactics, and load out ideas to help the new player with getting the knowledge as to what they might need to get started in the game. This also allows them to reach people that they might not meet on the field. There are some easy and cheap mods that you can do to your gear to make it what you need for the sport. This is all in hopes to get more people into the sport.

Command BROS have the philosophy, “We don’t quit, We don’t submit, because we don’t fail.” With this kind of attitude they are going to make it happen and they will help grow the sport of paintball.
